Foo Fighters - “Wasting Light...” - Music Review

The Foo Fighters' latest album is friggin' awesome.
Let me elaborate: It is one of the most exhilarating and fresh rock'n'roll offerings I have listened to recently, and this is from a band that has been around for 17 years. It is kind of incredible to think that Dave Grohl and co. have been around for so long. The ex-Nirvana drummer who wasn't the obvious choice for a modern rock star proves that he is there to save rock music time and time again.

"there to save rock music time and time again..."

The new Fighters' album, “Wasting Light”, is more aggressive than their previous material and is not one ounce apologetic or trying to play nice. Grohl is in a position in which he doesn't have anything to prove anymore – millions of albums sold worldwide and being one of the biggest stadium fillers must be a good enough proof to anyone who still has doubts about him as a band leader.

The one thing that never changes with the Fighters is the great melodic sense that carries even the heaviest songs with such a wonderful grace. A great example for this can be found in songs such as “White Limo” and “Miss The Misery” in which the melody shines through the distortion.

The standout tracks in this album are “Arlandria” and ”Bridge Burning”, two wonderfully crafted rock songs, “Rope” and “Walk”, which are the first and second singles from this album.  And “I Should Have Known”, which is probably one of the best pieces of work Grohl has ever put out, featuring ex-Nirvana bassist, Krist Novoselic on accordion (!) and bass.

"another great album from the Foo Fighters..."

Overall, this is another great album from the Foo Fighters that undoubtedly cements their status as one of the greatest rock bands active today. We here at the SaVa reviews team wholeheartedly recommend this excellent album to any rock lover out there.

With Much Respect,
